The academic year is divided in to 3 terms for Preschool till Class 7.

a) Pre-School

There are termly assessments in preschool. Assessments are conducted in the ticked subjects in the table below.

Guidelines for Pre-school Assessment:

  • 3 assessments per subject in a year.
  • Duration of the Assessment: 40 minutes
  • Marks allotted: 20 marks
  • The assessment must have a cover page
  • Roman numerals not to be used for numbering questions (to be observed in copies/blackboards as well)
  • Answer scripts: No separate answer scripts to be provided. The question paper must have enough space for pupils to write the answers properly.
  • The assessment schedule to be provided centrally by the Academic Board.
  • All the assessments to be provided centrally by the Academic Board.
  • Assessment to be conducted in the FIRST period on the dates that the test is to be taken.
  • Assessment syllabus/syllabi to be issued centrally to all branches and should be given to the parents at least 2 weeks before the assessment in each term.

b) Classes 1 – 7

Class 8

Termly examination of all the subjects as mentioned in subject allocation.

  • Class 8 Board Exam is optional on the discretion of Branch Head.
  • Class 8 is promoted to Pre-class 9 starting in January, if not taken Board exams.
  • Class 8 is promoted to class 9 after the announcement of board results in February, if taken Board Exams.

Class 9

The academic year is divided into 3 terms for class 9.

There are four test rounds for revision of the whole syllabus in December, January & February.

There is a MOCK exam in the 1st week of March. After clearing the MOCK exam, the students are eligible to appear in the board exam.

Class 10

The academic year is divided into 2 terms for class 10.

There are two Revision test rounds in January and February.

There is a Mock exam in the end of February or start of March.

After clearing the MOCK exam, the students are eligible to appear in the board exam.

Student Evaluation

The student evaluation includes classwork, homework, projects, and class tests. It carries 10 marks and is added to the exam marks in every quarter.

Classwork marks reflect the student’s:

  • Attitude, response, participation and ability to concentrate in class
  • Understanding and language expression, written and oral
  • Presentation of work (neatness, condition of notebook, systematic presentation)
  • Ability to complete classwork in the lesson

Homework marks reflect the student’s:

  • Regularity
  • The student’s original effort
  • Accuracy of work done
  • Presentation, neatness, legibility
  • Corrections regularly and punctually done

Marks are allotted out of 10 as below:

Policy if an exam is missed

Missed ExamPolicy
Exam 1An average of marks obtained in the exams in ALL other subjects will be the proxy mark for that subject.
Exam 2Exam 1 marks less 20% as proxy.
Exam 3Resit (at discretion of Head of Branch).

If a student joins after first or second quarter, the current quarter marks to be used as proxy marks for previous quarter(s).

Showing exam answer scripts to students and parents

  • Exam answer scripts of 1st and 2nd Terms are shown and discussed with students in class once they have been checked.
  • Exam answer scripts in each term are shared with parents. The schools may use one of the three following options:
    1. All scripts to be available on the PTM day for interested parents to see.
    2. Parents interested in seeing the papers are to make a request on the PTM day.
    3. Parents given the answer scripts on the PTM day and they take them home and return them.
